A gray comedy in one act
by John F. Evans
Don is an out of work actor. Desperate to ply his craft, he takes a gig as a ‘Standardized Patient’ for a team of psychiatrists on the Professional Standards and Practice Committee. They are assigned to assist in the disbarring of a woman psychiatrist who is under review as unqualified to practice. Don will improvise two disturbed individuals to test the ability of the psychiatrist in question. The exchange is recorded on video. In performing the roles, the lines between fact and fiction are blurred as he finds himself in …the gray zone between actor and patient.
